A action plan was signed in London between the Hellenic Police and the United Kingdom’s competent law enforcement authorities, and in particular between the Organized Crime Management Directorate and the Royal Public Revenue and Customs (Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs – HMRC).
The action plan was signed by HMRC deputy director Peter Thorpe and the Deputy Director of the Hellenic Police Organized Crime, Lieutenant General Ioannis Stavrakakis.
By signing the project, bilateral cooperation is enhanced at strategic and operational level, with the aim of strengthening actions in the fields:
- of combating money laundering,
- of dealing with illegal trafficking of goods, and in particular
- The handling of products subject to special eating tax, such as tobacco species.
The plan provides, inter alia, the exchange of information, optimal practices and specialized know -how, with the aim of further enhancing the effectiveness of controls and operational interventions.
This initiative confirms the will of the two sides to continue and expand their cooperation, contributing decisively to the protection of public security and economic integrity at national and international level.
