The largest number of European firefighters participating in the European Civil Protection (UCPM) pre -establishment program will also be hosted by Greece during this year’s firefighting season.
From July 1 to September 15, 2025, 323 firefighters from Austria, Bulgaria, France, Moldova, Romania and the Czech Republic will gradually develop in our country and will be installed in Attica, Thessaloniki and Patras.
The purpose of the program is to assist their Greek colleagues in dealing with forest fires, to train on their side in real conditions in the field and to convey valuable experiences and knowledge to their homeland.
The pre -establishment program of European firefighters already counts four (4) firefighting periods and the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection through the Fire Department has an uninterrupted and prominent presence.
As part of the preparation of this year’s program, the Fire Department conducted a joint training seminar on Foreign Missions Officers and Administrative Associations on May 20, 2025, while at the end of June, the training seminar will be followed by the TEMs.
Greece for the second consecutive firefighting period participates in the program with a dual mission. In addition to the European Firefighters who will be hosted in the country, a hiking section of 20 firefighters of the Special Forestry Units (EMME) will be developed in Corsica from 01 to 15 September 2025, alongside the French firefighters.
It is important to note that the pre -establishment program for the year 2025 will also take place in other southern European countries, in particular in Spain, Portugal and France and a total of 641 European firefighters from 14 different countries of the European Civil Protection Mechanism will participate.
