“The highest penalties of the real crime. The acquittal of the rest of the accused wound. The culprits are more. We do not complain, ”said a statement by the Association of Relatives and Burns of July 23, 2018 in East Attica on the decision of the Court of Appeal.

In particular, the announcement is noted:

‘The trial of the three -member Court of Appeal Court of Appeals ended with the assignment of penalty For the 10, finally, convicted by the 21 defendants in the case:

340 years for homicides negligent 102 dead and 238 years for personal injuries from negligent 32 burn. Of these, up to 5 and 3 years respectively, the highest penalties, unauthorized real crime and a sense of law. Ash in the eyes of all of us.

The imprisonment of 4 -bare guards without suspension/recognition is not a substantial victory, as we know that the chances of actual degradation as a whole are minimal.

OR Converting the imprisonment of another 6 to redeemable For 10 euros a day, by judges who ruled that the value of the life of 132 victims, based on a parliament, corresponds to 283 euros each, each foolishly.

OR acquittal of the rest of the defendants, despite the elements, are wound and defeat of the legal system which applauded the bodies on the part of selective lawlessness.

How many do we realize that there are also officers and persons who may be called upon to make decisions in subsequent events among those and acquitted?

In the consciousness of all, the crime of July 23, 2018 in East Attica is a felony! The culprits, recognized and not, are more, as the Greek Police, Port Authority, Forestry, EKAB and of course politicians have never emerged!

The next day finds us both anxious and persuasive as this seemingly “justice” performance does not guarantee the justification of other crimes or the deterrence of new ones …

Looking at developments, we expect the 2nd trial, for some of the basting victims who were not included in the 1st so as not to “make the position and penalties of the defendants”, while mobilizing in whatever direction and for the emergence and recognition of the other dead victims …

We do not complain or stop the struggle we have been giving for almost 7 years for true justification! Nothing has ended at a legal level for the case (requests for suspension and reduction of penalties, appeals, etc.) but not for the substantive protection of all of us! “
