Another top distinction in tourism was won by Greece in the Scandinavian market, according to an EOT announcement, as it emerged as the “best travel destination in the world” for 2025 (World’s Best Travel Destination) at the Grand Travel Awards (GTA), Finland.
In the “Best Travel Destination in the World” for 2025, Spain and Italy were co -candidates.
The awards ceremony was first organized in Helsinki on June 2, 2025 and gathered 250 travel professionals from all over the country.
The Greek award was received by Ms. Natalia-M. Karageorgou, Ambassador of Greece to Helsinki and Ms. Eftihia- Christina Aivaliotis, Head of the EOT Foreign Service, responsible for the northern and Baltic countries.
The Grand Travel Awards are an important recognition among travel industry professionals. They were organized for the first time in Sweden in 1992 and have been established in Norway and Denmark ever since.
Now Finland is also part of this tradition, focusing on transparency, the comparison of services and, above all, the intention of respondents to re -visit this destination.
It is noted that Greece has been in the first place in Finnish preferences in recent years, with arrivals steadily reaching more than 220,000 in 2024 and 2023.
