A very high risk of fire is foreseen for tomorrow, Monday, June 16th, in areas of Crete and the Northern Aegean, according to the Fire Risk Provision Charter issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and CivilProtection.gr.
In particular, a very high risk of fire (risk category 4) is foreseen tomorrow for the following areas:
– Region of Crete (Lasithiou, Heraklion PE)
– Northern Aegean Region (Samos, PE Ikaria)
As the Fire Brigade announced, the 2nd Stage of Operational Readiness has been implemented and will take place and will take place. Air surveillance patrols, as well as patrols by firefighters, police and military forces.
In addition, the fire department staff of the above regional units are partially alert to tackle the increased service requirements, which may occur due to very high risk of fire (Class 4).
At the same time, for the above areas, the Civil Protection Actions Plan has been implemented to address risks due to forest fires, according to which, inter alia, the implementation of its measure is foreseen. Preventive prohibition of vehicles and stay of excursions in national parks, forests and “vulnerable” areas.
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has informed the competent officials involved state agencies, as well as the regions and municipalities of the above areas, in order to be on increased civil protection readiness in order to address any fires immediately.
At the same time, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection recommends that citizens be particularly careful and to avoid actions in the countryside that can cause fire from negligence, such as burn and branches or cleansing residues, the use of sparks such as saws, welding appliances, use of outdoor barbecues, bee smoking, throwing cigarettes, etc.
It is also recalled that the burning of the fields are prohibited during the fire period.
In the event of a fire, citizens are kindly requested to alert the Fire Service immediately in the 199 call number 199.
