Framework with France in the field of forestry was signed yesterday with the Minister of Ecological Transition, Biodiversity, Forests, Sea and Fisheries of France. Agnès Pannier-Runacher, the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Stavros Papastavrou, on the sidelines of his participation in the European Union Ministers of Energy in Luxembourg.

According to an official announcement, the central commitment of the two sides is the introduction of know -how and innovation in forest management. The collaboration will also include good practices in the utilization of satellite forest protection data, as well as the methods used for harvesting and exploiting biomass by agricultural crops, parcels near forests. The framework for an agreement with France focuses on the areas of Epirus, Western Macedonia and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

As stated in the same announcement, this cooperation takes into account the specialization of each side and the similarities or correspondences of the forest ecosystems. More specifically, the bodies of the two countries will work with the aim of transporting know -how and innovation in terms of forest management and the exploitation of woody products.

The Ministers of Greece and France have made a joint statement: “Protection of the environment, and in particular our forests, is a collective issue that requires international cooperation, exchanges of know -how and optimal practices. Greece and France, girlfriend countries, will work together to ensure that the signing of this agreement will be the trigger for closer cooperation, with the aim of better protecting our natural resources, forests and our biodiversity, especially in areas that present our common clothing and we can make the most of us.
