Following on from the announcement last year, the new feature is now available for the first time in all Volvo ex90s equipped with the optional Bowers & Wilkins High Fidelity Audio audio, through a wireless (over-air) update within the upcoming weeks.
Advanced by Bowers & Wilkins together with Abbey Road Studios, this technology draws inspiration from the characteristic acoustics of studios and the sound signature of equipment used by artists and engineers to create some of his most beloved albums in music history, giving a unique experience.
Abbey Road Studios Mode is available with default settings that provide a selection of sounds, optimized for different listening styles. And, for those who are ready to explore new ways to enjoy their favorite tracks, Producer Mode allows you to draw your own sound. This involves changing the acoustic, from retro to a more modern and deep sound, reducing or expanding the stereo sound field and adapting the acoustic environment, just as a producer or engineer would do.
“Abbey Road Studios Mode brings the unique sound of our premises and equipment in the Volvo Ex90 audio system for the first time, allowing the driver to shape and personalize the sound in the car, for an incomparable hearing experience” Says Abbey Road General Manager Jeremy Huffelmann (Jeremy Hafelman). “We are extremely proud of this collaboration and excited that Volvo’s customers will experience the experience of landmark technology.
This wireless (over-the-air) update represents one of Volvo Cars’ most important upgrades so far, as part of the company’s ambition to constantly improve its software-determined cars. For future EX90 and ES90 with Bowers & Wilkins sound system, the new audio function will already be included in their production.
“We use technology to improve the daily life of drivers, so we are excited to offer Abbey Road Studios mode in Volvo Ex90”, Says Anders Bell (Anders Bell), Head of Mechanical Development and Technology at Volvo Cars. “Adding this experience, for the first time in the world, is an excellent example of how we provide more value to our customers through efficient and simple wireless updates.
The ex90 has one of the most quiet cabins ever created by Volvo Cars, as well as 25 speakers, accurately located inside. With the optional Bowers & Wilkins audio system, it offers an amazing in-car audio landscape. The 1610 Watt system can play content with Dolby Atmos and is sophisticated and regulated by Bowers & Wilkins engineers, in close collaboration with the Volvo Cars audio team.
Thanks to a recent technological change, Volvo Cars can deliver wireless updates to a fleet of about 2.5 million existing cars, built by 2020, in 85 countries.
Abbey Road Studios Mode is provided exclusively by Bowers & Wilkins.
