The National Health Services Provision (EOPYY) is informed of an ongoing e-mail campaign.
According to the agency, these emails appear as official alerts by the National Health Service Agency (EOPYY) for “refund”.
These deceitful messages have titles such as “Return € XXX, XX (No.: Eopyy-Ref-XXXX-XXXXXX)” and promise a refund due to “error in the calculations of contributions”. Their goal is to urge you to press a link to “confirm information”, which actually leads to fake websites aimed at theft of your bank codes or other sensitive personal data.
How to recognize the deceitful message:
• Sender: The email address of the sender is not official of EOPYY (eg, does not end in @eopyy.gov.gr). Examples of delusional addresses are @client.com, @outlook.com, @gmail.com etc.
• General address: A general address is used (“Dear/or”) instead of your name.
• Request for information: Bank or personal confirmation is requested through a link to the email.
• Emergency Feeling: The message creates the impression of urgency to push you to act immediately.
What to do if you receive such a message:
1. Do not press any link inside the email.
2. Don’t answer the message.
3. Do not give any personal or banking item.
4. Delete the delusional email immediately.
In case you have already pressed the link and have entered information:
• Contact your bank immediately.
• Change all passwords you may have used (e-banking, email, other services).
• Monitor your bank account movements closely.
‘Please be very careful and cautious in any such message“, Noted in the EOPYY announcement.
