A very high risk of fire (risk category 4) is foreseen tomorrow, Friday, in Attica, Kythera, Evia, areas of the Peloponnese and the Northern Aegean, according to the Fire Risk prediction map, issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.
In particular, a very high risk of fire (risk category 4) is foreseen tomorrow for the following areas:
• Attica Region (including the island of Kythera)
• Region of Central Greece (Evia IP)
• Peloponnese Region (Corinthia, IP of Argolida, IP of Laconia)
• Northern Aegean Region (PE Chios, PE Samos, PE Ikaria)
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has informed the competent officials involved state agencies, as well as the regions and municipalities of the above areas, in order to be on increased civil protection readiness in order to address any fires immediately.
At the same time, the GAPP recommends that citizens be very careful and to avoid actions in the countryside that can cause fire from negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning residues, using sparks such as drops, use of sparks, rugs, cigarettes, etc. It is also recalled that the burning of the fields are prohibited during the fire period.
Consequently, as the Fire Brigade has announced, the 2nd Stage of Operational Readiness of the PA remains in place. And air surveillance patrols will be carried out, as well as patrols by firefighters, police and military forces.
In addition, the fire departments of the above areas remain partially alert in order to tackle the increased service requirements, which may occur due to a very high risk of fire (category of danger 4).
At the same time, for these areas, the Civil Protection Actions Plan to address risks due to forest fires, according to which, among other things, provides for the implementation of a preventive prohibition of vehicles and staying excursions in national parks, forests.
At the same time the Fire Brigade appeals to citizens:
1. To be very careful and avoid actions in the countryside that can cause fire from negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning residues, using sparks such as saws, welding appliances, use of outdoor buns. It is also recalled that the burning of the fields are prohibited during the fire period.
2. Monitor the information on the prevention of forest fires available on the website and on the official Fire Brigade accounts, Facebook and Twitter.
3. In the event of a fire, they are kindly requested to alert the Fire Service immediately to the 199 call number 199.
Finally, it calls on all citizens to be very careful and in the event of a fire, for their own safety, to adhere strictly to the instructions of the competent authorities.
