Counting 27 years of life and over 5 million sales worldwide, Subaru Forester needs no recommendations. Now, in its 6th generation, the Japanese SUV returns to every level – from design to its technological characteristics. We took it to routes on and off asphalt and here’s our conclusions.
At first glance, the new Forester remains recognizable but at the same time more dynamic. The horizontal line that runs through the front to side to side gives intensity, while the sharper lighting fixtures and the larger mask add “volume” and character. The dimensions have grown slightly – both in length and width – something that is felt in practice, especially indoors.
Opening the door, the first impression is clear: the new forester does not discount ergonomics and quality sense. The 11.6 -inch vertical screen dominates the center of the dashboard, integrated in a way reminiscent of premium approaches. Its handling is immediate, with easy navigation and full connectivity. The materials have been upgraded, sound insulation is significantly improved and the overall feel is “buttoning” with the philosophy of a family SUV that knows how to provide comfort.
Spaciality is one of its strong papers. Five adults travel without concessions, while the 508 -liter luggage compartment covers the needs of a weekend in the countryside. With the seats folded, the total capacity reaches 1,720 liters – a price reminiscent of a small van.
Subaru is not moving away from its roots – and shows it. Underneath the bonnet we find the familiar two -liter, four -cylinder boxer engine, this time with mild hybrid support. The combination of 136 hp (plus 16.7 horsepower from the electric motor) does not impress numerically, but in practice the whole delivers with progressive and linearity. The 182 Nm torque is sufficient for most movements, with the CVT gearbox working harmoniously, although it retains its known “rubber” feeling under pressure.
On the road, Forester maintains its driving maturity. The suspension effectively absorbs the irregularities, the steering wheel has good information, and the Subaru four -wheel drive system continues to stand out, especially on low -grip surfaces. Off-road, Forester does not chew: the X-Mode in combination with the body approach and escape angles offer real capabilities beyond the asphalt.
The new generation is available at four equipment levels – Free, Style, Adventure and Premium – with the basic version starting at 45,920 euros. Yes, the amount is not small, but it includes rich safety equipment, Eyesight, infotainment, and even luxury elements.
The top premium version reaches 54,250 euros and is aimed at those who want “all in the package” without optional.
The new Subaru Forester does not chase fashions – it remains an honest, quality, capable SUV with a clear identity. It is not the strongest, nor the most impressive technologically. But it is the forester we met and appreciated: robust, practical, with real potential beyond the urban fabric. And now, a little more elegant, more modern and – yes – a little more premium.
