From today (18/7) the ring stops in downtown Athens, and all vehicles will be allowed normally.
According to ERT, the established pause of the ring – which has been in force since October 14, 2024 – has come into force today due to the summer.
According to the ministerial decision in force, it will be reinstated in mid -October.
The boundaries of the ring
The ring will extend to the following streets and avenues:
Alexandra – Zaharov – Mesogeion L. – Fidippidou – Michalakopoulou – Sp. Frantzi – L. Andr. Syngrou – Hamosterna – Piraeus – Sacred Road – Constantinople L. – Achilleos – Pl. Karaiskaki – Karlou – Marni – October 28th (Patision) – Alexandra L.
On the marginal avenues and streets of the small ring, restriction measures do not apply.
Only the streets and avenues enclosed by the small ring is allowed only the rotation of the private car. cars, as well as private car trucks with a maximum acceptable mass of loaded vehicle (MAMMO) up to 2.2 tonnes, based on the last digit of their registration number (single – scales).
The exceptions
They do not fall under the above prohibitions and the vehicles of the categories that are excluded from the restrictions, as well as the vehicles of the categories, required to be equipped with special licenses, granted by the Attica Traffic Directorate, in accordance with the provisions of No. 1959/10948 (No. 1959) and no. Joint Ministerial Decision.
In particular, they may print a specific signal for their exceptional circulation in downtown Athens, electronically through the single digital gateway to the public administration (gov.gr) either in a writer or in electronic formatted on mobile phone and/or holders:
- By manufacturing, purely electric vehicles, as well as by the manufacture of hybrid electric vehicles, gas and gas vehicles,
- EURO 6 cars, except for the above drive technologies, if they transmit carbon dioxide less than 120g/km (a combined cycle price, according to the new European driving cycle-New European Driving Cycle/NEDC), which were first classified into a Member State of the European Union until 31.12.2020), up to 31.12.
- Euro 6 cars other than the above drive technologies, as long as they emit carbon dioxide less than 145g/km (a combined cycle price according to the worldwide harmonized
- Light Vehicle Testing Procedure-Worldwide Light Test ProCedure/WLTP), which were first classified into a Member State of the European Union from 01.01.2021 onwards.
What applies to permanent residents – the hours of measure
For the vehicles of the permanent residents inside the small ring, special entry -exit zones are provided and a special card is granted by the relevant services of the Municipality of Athens.
The days and times of the above restrictive measures are as follows:
- Monday to Thursday, hours 07.00 to 20.00,
- Friday, hours 07.00 to 15.00.
On Saturdays, Sundays, official holidays, as well as the days of workers’ strikes in all public transport, measures do not apply.
