The difficult battle with flames continues today in Euboea, with powerful firefighters, volunteer groups and residents trying to control the fire that began yesterday from the area of Pissona and spread quickly to surrounding areas.

The ecological disaster is incalculable, as hundreds of active outbreaks have intensified what was left of the big fires last year.

According to eviathema.gr, in the difficult situation, the moving effort of volunteers from the Euboea Research and Rescue Team stood out. As shown in a video they published, the volunteers found and provided first aid to a newborn calf, which was exhausted on the ground. He was offered water and care until his safe transfer to a vet was arranged, in an image that captures solidarity in the most difficult times.

6 injured firefighters

It is recalled that with an ambulance of EKAB yesterday in Chalkida Hospital for a total of 6 firefighters, 2 with burns and 4 with pathological problems. In addition to aerial means and 135 firefighters with 6 forestry groups, 38 vehicles and volunteers with the help of aquifers and project machinery are operated.

The concern for the report is intensified

Although the eyes remain still focused on the efforts of the ground and air forces to limit the scattered outbreaks, the first images of the damage evaluation are nightmarish.

While fire and support forces continue the battle with the high fire in the area, residents and local agencies are anxious for the final assessment.

The flames have had thousands of acres of forest, burning what was left of last year’s fires. At the same time, thousands of stable animals were lost as the fire invaded rural and livestock facilities, scattered in the affected area. There were a few cases where firefighters were in danger of being trapped in flames, trying to rescue what they could.

According to preliminary estimates at night, losses are not limited to livestock. Disasters have also suffered local businesses and crops, with people of the labor seeing the hardships of a life lost in flames.

From dawn, DEDDIE’s workshops began work on the restoration of serious damage to the electricity grid, in an attempt to restore power to areas that remain in the dark yesterday.

There are a few villages that have serious problems in water supply as well, as the long -term power outage has shut down pumping complexes, resulting in the supply holidays being continuous and extensive.
