Announcement regarding the alleged arson case in the Nursing Home in Patras was issued by the 25 -year -old lawyers who has been arrested and apologized Monday for the offense of arson.

As they note, the 25 -year -old had gone to the area exclusively as a volunteer together with three other people who have already filed the authorities.

“The official finding – autopsy of the Fire Department shows that this fire did not come from human energy, but was the result of the well -known natural phenomenon of” staining “(burning transmission)” noted.

“In relation to the case concerning our 25 -year -old client, who is accused of arson in the Nursing Home, we consider it necessary to quote:

Our client was in the area exclusively as a volunteer in order to help extinguish the fire, along with three other people, two of whom have already justified to the competent authorities that he was actively involved in trying to deal with the front and the third is expected to be filed. It is worth noting that one of the three was the owner of the adjacent plot, in which – at the expense of him – the fire was allegedly caused.

Further, there are some zooming photos that display our client in the middle of a plot. This fragmentary image gives a false impression. If the frame of the photo is attributed to the whole, it will be found that the above people would be found within a breath away between them and the owner of the adjacent plot which was burned. Our client, in particular, was there to extinguish a small fireplace, which started from the burnt.

We fully recognize the magnitude of the disaster, serious property damage to property and public infrastructure, as well as the risk of humans and animals. The need to take responsibility for the real culprits is self -evident. But this should not be done at the expense of innocent citizens, who, on the contrary, hastened to help.

The city of Patras and society as a whole should not be found in front of the painful possibility of unjustly condemning a young man who has been proven to be at the forefront of extinguishing. An unjust treatment of volunteers who are looking to help extinguish and the risk of being considered perpetrators will prevent people in the future from helping when we need them. All of the above would be that worse for further enhancing the voluntary spirit and social contribution by citizens.

Justice is called upon to examine all the elements with soberness and to fair the truth.
