Consolidation of the durations of disease certificates and vaccination and further lifting of restrictive measures τον Mayannounced in advance Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris speaking on SKAI TV and the show “Unmatched”.
Mr. Plevris stated that immediately, possibly next week, the government will present one integrated de-escalation frameworkso that as summer approaches the country is closer to normalcy.
He clarified that the vaccination or disease certificate will not be revokedbut what is being considered is that it does not need to be displayed for entry indoors during the summer months.
He announced this change in May and did not mention a specific date, in order not to advance the committee’s decisions.
The consolidation of the duration of the certificates
Regarding the certificates, he also stated that there is a recommendation from the Commission to all Member States to consolidate their validity in all Member States, to 9 months for the vaccination certificate and 6 months for the disease certificate.
In Greece so far the validity of the vaccination certificate for the two doses is seven months while for the disease certificate is three months.
For those who have been vaccinated against coronavirus and with the third dose, there is no time limit on the validity of the certificate.
The masks “stay”
Regarding the use of protective masks indoors, Mr. Plevris stressed that this is a relatively mild measure that does not restrict mobility and social, economic life, while in our country indoor environments are limited during the summer months. In this context, the Minister of Health stressed that this is not a measure that should be “left” immediately.
Pan-European decisions on the fourth tranche are expected immediately
Regarding the fourth dose of vaccine, Mr. Plevris stressed that last week in the European Council several countries, including Greece, asked for an immediate scientific decision, if possible common to all European countries.
“My assessment is that very soon there will be decisions on this issue at European level,” said the Minister of Health.
