The Holy Archdiocese of Australia, after a deepest of emotion and human bewilderness, announces the Master Elias Elias Kenrotis, who died on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
The blessed clergyman was born in 1951 in Australia, and was a third generation of immigrant, with his parents attracting their origin: his father from Kythera and Aegina, and his mother from Kastellorizo and Chios. He grew up with the Greek Orthodox traditions and near the Orthodox Church, and in 1974 he received a scholarship to study at the Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. During his studies, he lived in the Holy Monastery of Vlatades, where he devoted himself to the functional and spiritual life of the Church.
He entered the priesthood in 1976, and three years later returned to Australia and settled in Melbourne. His first mission was to establish and organize the Lord’s Parish in the Coburg suburb. In 1988 he undertook to establish the parish of St. Charalambous, at Templestowe, Melbourne, where he served with dedication and zeal for 37 whole years, up to his event. He was particularly loved by his spiritual children in the parishes where he was decorated, and was distinguished for his pastoral work to the younger generations of the Greek community, as he was one of the first Australian clergy of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
With his beloved elder, Stavroula, who was married in 1976, they had five children who were given nine grandchildren.
His Eminence Archbishop Australia Makarios, informed of the Elias’ Evision, contacted the Elder and his relatives and expressed his condolences. In a statement about the speechless clergyman, His Eminence said: “The expectation of the common resurrection is softened, but it does not completely eliminate the pain that causes us, due to our human nature, the loss of a charismatic, hardworking and very dear clergyman, such as Fr. Elias. Its exit from the present world leaves an incomplete gap in our local Church, which has served in a sacrificial spirit and genuine ecclesiastical ethos for almost half a century. At the same time, it shocks the hearts of countless people who rested from his sweet discourse and were guided by his spiritual minds. I pray for God to rest his noble soul in the scenes of the righteous and the example of His life to illuminate the path of those who were blessed to get to know him. Let it be the memory of the eternal. “
The funeral sequence of the blessed Fr. Elias Kenrotis will be held at the Church of St. Charalambous, in Templestowe.
The Theophilist Bishop of Melbourne, Mr. Kyriakos, will be added, representing the Honorable Archbishop of Australia. Blessed.
