Saint Alexander

As a senior, he was distinguished for his great piety, virtue and goodness. At the First Ecumenical Council, held in Nice, Bithynia, the then Patriarch elected him a representative. And when the Synod was condemned at this meeting, Saint Alexander, though 70, agreed to tour Thrace, Macedonia, Thessaly and the rest of Greece, to teach and disclose the right doctrines of the decisions of the Synod of Nicaea.

But while he was on this tour, Patriarch Mitrophanis died. But he appointed Alexander’s successor because, despite his old age, he had the right supplies for the rule of the Archdiocese of the capital.

Indeed, as Patriarch Alexander responded properly to the difficult circumstances of the times. At that time, the Arius had cheated on King Constantine that he was supposedly believing properly. And the king ordered Alexander to let the Arius participate in the Divine Communion.

Alexander, sad, prayed to God and asked for his help. The hierarch was heard. And in the morning when the Arius procession would go to the church, his body was found and worn! Saint Alexander passed away peacefully in 337 AD.
