EOPYY informs that an electronic fraud campaign is underway, where misleading emails are sent.
These messages are displayed as notifications that seem to come from the National Health Service Agency (EOPYY) and promise recipients.
“Their goal is to encourage you to press a link to proceed with the process, but it actually leads to malicious websites aimed at intercepting your banking codes or other personal data,” EOPYY points out.
How to recognize the deceitful message:
Sender: Sender’s email address is not official of EOPYY. EOPYY’s actual e-mail addresses end at @eopyy.gov.gr. Examples of delusional addresses are @client.com, @outlook.com, @gmail.com, @yahoo.com, @yahoo.gr etc.
General address: A general address is used (“Dear/or”) instead of your name.
Request for information: Bank or personal confirmation is requested through a link to the message.
Emergency Feeling: The message creates the impression of urgency to push you to act immediately.
What to do if you receive such a message:
Do not press any link within the message.
Don’t answer the message.
Even if you click on the link or answer the message, do not give any personal or banking item.
Delete the fraudulent message immediately.
In case you have already pressed the link and have entered information:
Contact your bank directly.
Change all passwords you may have used (e-banking, email, other services).
You closely track your bank account movements.
EOPYY calls on citizens to be particularly careful and cautious in any such message by taking advantage of the signs of recognition of such messages mentioned above.
