Successfully operated on the first Saturday of the 24 -hour operation of Attica’s urban transport with thousands of citizens returning home safely using the subway, tram and buses. Speaking to ERTNEWS, the Deputy Minister of Transport, Konstantinos Kyranakis He stressed that the implementation of the measure will save several lives, as young people will safely return home.
“It is difficult to prove but beyond true that from today and every Saturday some lives on Greek streets will be saved precisely because employees put huge backs to have a 24 -hour metro, 24 -hour bus routes and a 24 -hour tram every Saturday night. That is why we do it so that we young kids can especially return home on Saturday night safely, for their parents who are worried, for every young man who wants to go out in Athens Saturday night to have fun and wants a reliable alternative so he can not worry about how he will not be worried about how.
For his part, its Managing Director at. Thanasis Kotaras told ERTNEWS that “we are very happy for two reasons”.
“For the first time we apply the 24 -hour Saturday operation to the subway” and “the second and most important because tonight thousands of passengers and especially thousands of young people embraced this nightlife of the Lines 2 and 3 of the Metro, the Tram and the bus lines”.
Indeed, as he said, “the young people mainly embraced this government’s initiative to transport people to their home safely and financially and to reduce traffic accidents as much as possible on Saturday night.”
As people said, he is very pleased with the measure and is something that wants to continue and pledged that as a STASY they are committed to continuing the effort.
Mr Kotaras stressed that it was not easy and simple, as it took several “changes and customizations in our systems”.
As he said to serve the world, 250 people worked in the nightlife.
As noted in a statement by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport: OASA now establishes the operation of the subway (lines 2 and 3), the tram (T6 and T7) as well as selected bus routes on a 24 -hour basis, covering neuralgic points of the basin.
This initiative enhances the overall experience of traveling to the city, offering a safe and reliable audience at all times of the day. It is, moreover, an important step towards upgrading urban transport services and boosting Athens extroversion.
The new service enhances the overall travel experience in the city, providing safe and reliable movement all hours of the day and night. At the same time, it supports tourism, entertainment and economic activity, upgrading the image of Athens as a European metropolis.
Employees in all media had a catalytic role in the transition from pilot implementation to permanent operation, who, with professionalism and a sense of responsibility, supported the venture.
