In operational readiness sets the Ministry of Rural Development and the country’s food, after a meeting held by Minister Costas Tsiaras with the Regional Governors and was aimed at addressing smallpox.

According to the design, an action plan will be implemented for the next ten days – after unanimous decision. YPATA in the field, intensifying on -the -spot checks, as well as encouraging the breeder on the observance and implementation of bio -security measures. At the same time, disinfection stations will be created immediately on central streets and basic livelihood movement diodes and animal feed and milk movement. The presence of the workshops will be continuous, with the aim of fully controlling and effectively implementing the measures.

As underlined at the meeting, it is a “ten -day raid”, with the on -site presence of all ministry staff, with the sole aim of stopping the risk of spreading the smallpox.

During his presentation, Minister of Rural Development and Food, Costas Tsiaras, made it clear that it is a zoos that is not particularly easy to deal with and therefore no one is left in this battle. He emphasized that the aim is to create a strong framework for dealing with the disease, while pointing out that bio -security measures should be strengthened, because “otherwise we will be faced with lockdown”. “The point is that we have to work together where we are. The Regions, as they have the responsibility of compliance with measures, and all those involved to enter completely different logic to deal with smallpox. It is an attempt to take the step together to close this cycle, “he added.

At the end of the meeting the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Costas Tsiaras stated:

“As you know, we are confronted with blessing for a long time, which has been a major threat to the country’s animal capital. We had the opportunity, just before, to conclude a wide meeting with the participation of several regional governors, themes, but also through teleconferences with several of them, in order to co -ordinate joint actions that will enable us to limit it.

And the truth is -as the discussion has raised all the issues -that we have identified those points that we need to highlight so that the outcome of this effort was the best possible.

So we have decided together – mainly in the direction of specific axes: to mobilize all the forces we have at the Ministry of Rural Development – and of course I talk about veterinarians – so that the next ten days, through their on -site presence, in collaboration with their veterinarians, Bio -healing.

Secondly, to create disinfection stations on basic roads, especially the regions that are currently affected by smallpox.

And in the third reason, to create through the disinfection process, the ability to have a specific certificate that milk breeders can deliver by ensuring biosexhes.

Many other issues were discussed, such as for example being quarantine for animals imported, in order to reduce as much as possible the probability of being able to transmit the blessing virus. As well as the possibility of reinforcing breeders by disinfectant means of regions, so that we can strengthen, as much as possible, the context and the level of biosy, to tackle smallpox.

I think we are on a positive path and with the cooperation of all the Regional Governors, whom I am personally thanking, and with the contribution of all of us – here to the Ministry of Rural Development and Food – to take a truly big step to deal with an animal that has really great difficulties and particularities. “

Thessaly Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas emphasized: “I think today’s meeting was very useful. The decisions were unanimous, by all regional governors. These are the decisions the minister told you, and I think it is the model that was once used in the plague and succeeded. This is to be activated by the ministry. There is war and we are all together in war. We believe in the coming period to be able to control the blessing. This is a unanimous decision of all Regional Governors. “

Epirus Regional Governor Alekos Kachmanis said: “We are from an area that has no smallpox today, but we must also guard our area and those farmers who will move from the mountains to the lowlands. The discussion was very good and that we all agreed in this extraordinary period we are going through is very positive. “
