They were arrested last Friday afternoon (12-09-2025) in an area of ​​Fokida by police officers of the Efpali Police Department, two (2) nationals, for violating the law on the protection of antiquities and cultural heritage in general.

In particular, after properly utilizing information and conducting extensive investigations in the wider area, the detainees were occupied in a parcel of their non -ownership, to have done excavations with the creation of a vertical tunnel.

More specifically, the opening of a vertical tunnel, in the form of a cave, about 12 meters, was found, with the formation of horizontal levels, which was supported by metal columns.

It was also found to have a landscaped ventilation system, an irrigation system for pumping rainwater and groundwater in order to avoid the erosion of the subsoil, an electric linguist for the removal of inactive materials, complete electricity of the space using lamps throughout

In car. A car found at the point of ownership of one of the detainees, as well as in the excavation area, found and confiscated:

  • -4- metal columns and electric drills (compressors),

  • a part of a ventilation system and an electric lift,
  • -9-accessories (drill noses) and transport trolley,
  • a part of a plastic tube from the water pumping system,
  • Metal cutters, barrels and polybrizes,
  • Glove pair, head lamp and hand lamp.

The above -mentioned car was also seized. car, as a means of transporting tools and inert materials, derived from excavation.

In addition, in legal investigations carried out in houses of the above, a portable electronic device were found – where appropriate – and seized the amounts of -18,380 euros, of -5,774 -dollars. and -6,500 -Leu Romania, a metal detector and a metal metal rod.

In the case, the Fokida Antiquities Office was informed, as the location of the excavation work is within walking distance of the archaeological site of the area.

The preliminary investigation was carried out by the Efpali Police Department, while the detainees were taken to the Prosecutor’s Office of Amphissa and were referred to apologize to the investigating authorities.
