Investigations into the accident on Wednesday morning (9/10) are underway at Dekelia Air Base at Tatoiwhen her training aircraft Martial Aviationlost height and fell into a field while crew members, two trainers of the Icarus School, are hospitalized at 251 Aviation General Hospital.

The two -seater educational aircraft got up from the take -off runway shortly before 11am. While flying over the tattoo track, for an unknown reason, he began to lose height, thus hitting a field 150 meters from the wheelchair.

The aircraft participated in a scheduled maintenance exercise for the Icarus School trainers, according to which training aircraft circles above the airport.

Flying and engineers who saw the aircraft crashing on the ground rushed to the scene to help their colleagues. The crew of the aircraft, two trainers at the Icarus School, though seriously injured, were conscious of their hospital. One of the two has more serious injuries.

The scenarios investigated by the Air Force

As the ERTthe Air Force, which has undertaken the accident investigations, is looking for the causes that have caused the fall of the training aircraft. It is reported that two are the possible scenarios:

  • The first is to make the engine “reservation”, that is, there was a sudden damage that caused immediate height loss
  • The second is the two pilots to do engine loss exercise and during the attempt to re -operate, this was not possible

The President of the Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, of the 130 Battle Brigade in Lemnos, which he visited, wished the two injured pilots passed.

“I am learning that they are both in the hospital. One more seriously, the other more but not at risk his life. We hope to overcome it and come back quickly to action, “Mr Tasoulas said.

Reportedly, the crashed aircraft was in the air for 6 years.
