The first in the world’s multiple adjustment belt, to be presented for the first time in the forthcoming purely electric SUV Volvo EX60, was selected by Time as one of the best inventions of 2025.

Today, Time has revealed its annual list of the best inventions, which includes 300 very important innovations that change our lives. For the second consecutive year, Volvo Cars is honored to be on the list, with its latest security innovation.

The new multiple adjustment belt was designed to better protect passengers, adapting to traffic conditions and to the person in the time.

“We are proud that Time is rewarding us as a leader in car safety”, Says Ã…sa Haglund (what Hanglood), the head of the Volvo Cars Security Center. “With the multiple adjustment zone to the forthcoming ex60, we utilize real -time data to adapt to specific conditions and to the person who in time – providing smarter, personalized protection that can help reduce injuries.”

By utilizing real -time data from the advanced internal and external sensors of the car, the system can personalize protection, by adapting to the condition and to unique characteristics of the individual drivers and passenger profiles, such as height, weight, body shape and seat position.

For example, a more bodily passenger in a severe collision will receive a higher load than regulation of the belt to reduce the risk of injury to his head. By analogy, a passenger with smaller bodily dimensions in a milder conflict will receive a lower load than regulation of the belt to reduce the risk of fracture on its side.

The capabilities of the new multiple adjustment zone were designed to continually improve through the over-the-air software updates. As Volvo Cars gathers more, the car can improve its perception of passengers, adapting it to new scenarios and response strategies.

This is an invention that demonstrates how Volvo continues to pioneer in security innovations to better protect people, utilizing real -time data.

Last year, another Volvo security feature took a place on the Time list with the best inventions of 2024. The innovative driving behavior analysis system, which equipped the Volvo ex90 and ES90, uses real -time detection technology to detect if a driver is under the Provides support if needed.

The new seat belt will be presented for the first time in the forthcoming Volvo Ex60, which will premiere on January 21, 2026, at an event that will be broadcast live by Stockholm, Sweden.
