The tragic accident with 2 dead and 4 injured, which happened early this morning, on the side road of the Athens-Lamia highway, in the direction of Lamia, in Afidnes, was due to a head-on collision, due to one of the two cars entering the opposite traffic flow.
It is recalled that in one car there were 5 foreigners and in the second only the local driver.
The collision was so severe that the intervention of the Fire Department was needed to extract the occupants from the wreckage of the two vehicles.
Two of the passengers of the foreigners’ car are dead and the other three and the driver of the second car are injured. All four injured people were taken to the KAT, where one, as it was known by the police, is being intubated, while the other three are also in a serious condition.
The Traffic Police expects the survivors to testify, in order to clarify the causes of the accident, as there are no cameras at the scene of the collision that have recorded the incident.
From the autopsy at the scene of the accident, however, they are considering the possibility that the slipperiness of the road surface contributed to one of the two cars entering the opposite stream, as it was raining in the area at the time.
The investigation is also ongoing for the second accident that occurred in the early hours of the morning at the 35th kilometer of the Athens-Corinth highway, in the direction of Athens, where the motorcycle driver lost his life.
According to the information so far, the motorcycle was nailed to the back of a truck parked in a parking lot, causing a fire and charring its driver, who was taken to the Thriasio hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
