The Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis arrived in Livera, Kozani.

In his speech, the Prime Minister is expected to refer to the green transition, emphasizing all the advantages of the country for clean energy production.

However, he will emphasize that the country will continue with lignite mining for a while longer, so that there is no issue energy security in the country because of the war in Ukraine and the complications it has created.

He will also reiterate the Greek positions on the European response to the phenomena of speculation, which the Prime Minister himself has presented at the highest European level.

The new energy map of the Eastern Mediterranean region was also discussed yesterday at the prime minister’s meetings with Israeli Foreign Minister and US Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland.

“We are going through a period of significant geopolitical turmoil and in these times, it is always important to reaffirm the traditional friendships and to know who our allies are “said Mr. Mitsotakis, adding that the two countries can cooperate in several energy projects in the near future.

Developments in Ukraine seem to have brought the plans for EastMed back to the forefront, but the obstacles to its implementation have not yet been overcome.

The project envisages the transport of natural gas from its sources to the offshore areas off the coasts of Egypt, Israel and Cyprus via Greece to Italy.
