The authorities are trying to piece together the puzzle of the double murder in Finikoundaas well new facts come to light through the testimony of a 31-year-old businessman. This particular man was said to be employer of the 22-year-old alleged accomplice and a friend of the nephew of the 68-year-old owner of the campsite, one of the victims.

According to information from ERT, during his testimony, the 31-year-old seemed to fall into contradictions. Although he claimed that he did not personally know the owner of the campsite – whom he described as “trash” because of the charges against him – from his mobile phone data, it emerged that had saved him in his contacts as “sulphur”. Despite his negative attitude towards the victim, he emphasized that he supported his nephew financially and emotionally.

“I did not know his uncle personally. But from the descriptions and because I knew he went out with little boys and was bossy, I considered him trash, because all of that is against my beliefs. But my friend (s.s. nephew) I knew it helped him a lot financially as well»

The businessman stated that he is active in business and real estate, clarifying, however, that he was never interested in business activities in Messinia.

Referring to the two defendants, H.T. and I.M., explained that the first was working as a distributor in a health care store he ran in Kolonaki in the period 2021-2022, while the second was a childhood friend of H.T. and occasionally replaced him at work. Through them, as he said, he also met the victim’s nephew.

“H.T. she had met my boyfriend from me and admired him for his lifestyle, expensive cars and cigars. I.M. I had been seeing him for four years. From July 2025 H.T. he works as a salesman in the store I run in the center of Athens».

On the evening of October 5, the businessman received a phone call from the victim’s nephew, who, in a state of shock, informed him of the murder of his uncle and the caretaker Vassilis, but also of the attempted murder against him.

Although there were initial contradictions over who was notified first, the 31-year-old confirmed that he tried to stay out of the case, refusing to take the nephew to Kalamata.

“On the evening of 5/10 I was in Thessaloniki. My boyfriend called me from his girlfriend’s phone at 20:30. He was scared, crying and telling me they killed my uncle and Vassilis the foreman, they wanted to kill me too. The call lasted about a minute. I tried to call again, but they didn’t answer. I spoke to his girlfriend again later while he was giving a statement to the police».

The businessman added that he met with the victim’s nephew a few days later: “We met one day after the funeral, on October 10, in Athens. They came to my house for dinner with his girlfriend. There he also greeted H.T. in my business».

The nephew’s deposition

The nephew, an eyewitness to the murder, testified that, after escaping the gunfire, he rushed to the restaurant of the campsite and asked his girlfriend to call businessman G.M. and to his mother.

“100 was called by the restaurant man… My girlfriend called GM first, because he is my closest friend, to let him know what had happened».

However, the businessman maintained that he spoke to the nephew himself, not his girlfriend.

The nephew described his uncle as awkward but loving towards him:

“My uncle was an awkward man, but he loved me. We had a good relationship. When the attacker entered the reception, they playfully taunted him and Vassilis, before he pulled out a gun and shot them».

At another point in his testimony, he said:

“I was shown the perpetrator in GADA among other people and I immediately recognized his facial features».

In his first statement, he had also mentioned the clothes worn by the second accused. He also confirmed that he met the businessman one day after the funeral, at his home in Athens, where he also greeted H.T. outside his business.
