Dislocated by COME ON gang that was stealing cars from its various regions Attica and then put them back into circulation, having first forged and falsified their circulation details.
In particular, during an operation carried out on October 18 by the North-Eastern Attica Crime Prosecution and Investigation Sub-Directorate with the participation of police officers from the Nea Philadelphia-New Chalkidona Crime Prosecution and Investigation Department, 7 members of the criminal group aged 25, 28, 31, 40, 43, 45 and 49 years old were arrested, while the case file still includes 1 person which has been identified and is being sought. All of them are accused of committed theft and forgery by profession, by habit, by complicity and by continuation, with the purpose of obtaining illegal income.
As pointed out in the relevant announcement, in the context of the preliminary investigation of the Department of Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes of New Philadelphia – New Chalcedon and after a combined evaluation of IT data and evidence, it emerged that the defendants from October of the year 2023 had formed and joined a criminal group with continuous action, with the aim of committing vehicle thefts, their resale and resulting in the obtaining of an illegal financial benefit.
In terms of their modus operandi, according to ELAS, the members of the criminal group initially identified parked target vehicles, stole them and, after altering their characteristics and falsifying their traffic information, then put them back on the road.
In fact, one of the arrested had made a false declaration of the theft of his vehicle.
From searches carried out at the houses of the accused, the sum of 8,845 euros was found and confiscated, as well as 2 stolen vehicles.
From the preliminary investigation by ELAS, 7 cases of vehicle thefts from Keratea, Piraeus, New Philadelphia, Peristeri, Magoula, Ano Liosia and Ilion have been solved, while the preliminary investigation is in full progress to solve further cases of theft.
The illegal financial gain from their criminal activity exceeds the amount of 180,000 euros.
Those arrested with the case file against them were taken to the competent prosecutor.
