The 23-year-old arrested for the murder of the 53-year-old during a festival in Elos Kissamos arrived at the Chania courts at noon on Tuesday.

The young man, who handed himself over to the authorities yesterday, was brought before a prosecutor and an investigator accompanied by armed police officers and wearing a bulletproof vest.

In the meantime, as ELAS announced earlier today, the 22mm firearm with which the 23-year-old assailant took the life of the 52-year-old man in Elos Kissamos, was located by the police authorities in a field in Elafonisi.

The long-term differences

The 23-year-old and the 53-year-old victim had long-term differences. According to police editor Theodosis Panou, the 23-year-old told the police that during the festival he approached the 53-year-old’s group. The two were talking until the 53-year-old made a sudden move causing the 23-year-old to get scared and so he pulled the gun and shot the 53-year-old three times.

The two had met a few days ago. The 23-year-old was driving a motorcycle and the 53-year-old the car. The 53-year-old then made dangerous maneuvers trying to throw the 53-year-old from the machine.

Both the perpetrator and the victim had criminal history. The victim, in fact, was known by two aliases as “Passaris” or “El Paso”. The nicknames were given to the 53-year-old because of the violent nature of the 23-year-old. The 53-year-old was charged with possession of weapons and dangerous bodily harm, while the 23-year-old was charged with possession of weapons.
