With a bulletproof vest and draconian measures, the 23-year-old self-confessed perpetrator of the shootings that claimed the life of a 52-year-old relative, at the chestnut festival in Elos, was brought to the Chania investigator last Sunday.
The young man crossed the threshold of the prosecutor’s office shortly before 10 a.m. on Saturday, while his supporters have gathered in the courtyard of the courthouse.
During his apology, the 23-year-old is expected to describe in detail the events that preceded, but also what happened that afternoon, explaining the reasons that led him to shoot the 52-year-old in cold blood in front of dozens of bystanders.
The forensic examination carried out on the victim’s body showed three gunshot wounds from a short-barreled military weapon. One shot struck the man centrally in the chest, penetrating the myocardium and causing instant death. The second fireball caused a through wound in the chest, without hitting any vital organs, while the third caused a through wound in the finger of the left hand.
The case has caused a shock in the local community of Chania, which is anxiously watching the developments, as the tragic incident unfolded in a public event (Chestnut Festival), in the presence of hundreds of residents and visitors.
