The Children’s Health Booklet will now be digital, as announced at a meeting under the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, held at the Maximos Palace.
At the same time, the Ministries of Health and Digital Government in collaboration with IDIKA are proceeding with the digitization of the Individual Health Card required for the registration of students in school, but also in the creation of a Vaccination Register for Children and Adolescents.
“The three services we presented today – the Vaccination Register, the Student Health Card and the Digital Child Health Booklet – essentially prove that we are making the transition from services, which facilitate the citizen in relation to the public, limiting the bureaucracy, in important value-added services related to the critical health sector.
And I think for any parent who is always anxious “what will happen if he loses his child’s health booklet”, the answer now is that all this information will be available digitally. “And of course, I think it is very important that there is a response from doctors, so that they can pass all the information into the system,” said Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
“Especially for vaccines, I think the whole experience of vaccination now shows us that these central information management systems are extremely important so that we can monitor the very course of vaccinations, as we are still facing a marginal but toxic movement. vaccines. So I think these services will be extremely useful. I am sure that the citizens, the parents will embrace them and it is another important step in the whole process of the digital transformation of the state “, said the Prime Minister and added:
“I think it will be extremely useful, in order to formulate Public Health policies, for this information to be completely accessible and with full respect, obviously, for personal data. But the data should be accessible to the Ministry of Health so that we can draw up Public Policy “.
In the context of the discussion on the vaccination process, Kyriakos Mitsotakis made a special reference to cervical cancer vaccine.
“There is a vaccine that I am particularly interested in monitoring and that is the cervical cancer vaccine, where I realize that vaccination rates are still low. And I think this is partly due to the lack of information of parents and adolescents, because children are also at an age where they understand the importance of this vaccine. There I think we will need a separate campaign. “But I imagine that even through this database we will be able to have much more accurate data on what is really happening,” the Prime Minister noted.
The relevant JMC for the three new digital services presented today has already been signed by the co-responsible ministers, while doctors will be able to from tomorrow to start the electronic entry of children’s data in their digital booklet.
The process of registering vaccination data will now be exclusively digital, while Parents will be able to access the system via their Taxisnet codes after May 10th.
Plevris: For the first time we will have reliable data
“For the first time the country acquires a Vaccination Register and we will be able to have reliable data on the vaccination coverage of the population. Essentially, the first Vaccination Register the state acquired was for Covid-19. “We make the crisis an opportunity and institutionalize the Registers, the screening and we implement them in a digital way”, underlined the Minister of Health Thanos Plevris.
“With the Vaccination Registry for Children and Adolescents, the digital Child Health Booklet and the Individual Student Health Card, we are taking an important step in optimizing the prevention and organization of targeted health policies. The design of these services is based on our commitment to use what we learned from emvolio.gov.gr about the organization of such supply chains. Today’s presentation of the above services to the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, is a manifestation of this very goal – and, in fact, for an eminently sensitive social group, namely children. “Our philosophy has been politically centered from the beginning and focused on creating digital services and applications that will allow citizens to take care of their health more easily and effectively,” said the Minister of State and Digital Government. Kyriakos Pierrakakis.
“With the Digital Health Booklet we will have valuable data of a medical nature, which will solve great research needs that exist. Child development, heights, weights, childhood obesity, things that will now all be digital. We will know for example what is the average height of 2 year old boys or the average weight. “With this, a whole strategy can be done by the Ministry of Health now, in order to identify the basic diseases”, said the Deputy Minister of Digital Government, Deputy Minister for Special Digital Works and the Land Registry. Thodoris Livanios.
Digital Child Health Booklet
According to the current situation, the developmental progress of the child from the moment he is born is recorded in paper booklets, with handwritten entries by the pediatricians. Now, with the digitization of the health booklet, the whole process will be recorded electronically by the pediatrician through the electronic prescription system and will be accessible by the parents through their codes in Taxisnet.
In this way, the recording of the child’s developmental progress is systematized, including all the medical data that must be recorded by the pediatrician for each age group. Furthermore, the risk of data loss in case the booklet is lost or damaged is eliminated.
Vaccination Register for Children and Adolescents
Until now, the organization of basic pediatric vaccinations was done exclusively by oral consultation between doctor and parents, without digitally recording the implementation of these vaccinations. As a result, the country does not have data on how many children have received the necessary vaccinations.
With the Vaccination Register of Children and Adolescents, Greece acquires for the first time a complete system of organization of basic pediatric vaccinations. Additional capabilities for process optimization will be provided through the system. Specifically:
– parents will be notified when their child needs to be vaccinated, as set out in the National Vaccination Program for Children and Adolescents, and
– parents and pediatricians will have access to the vaccination history, for immediate assessment of the child’s history.
Furthermore, through the Vaccination Register of Children and Adolescents, it will be certified for which diseases a child has been vaccinated, when and by which doctor he was vaccinated. In this way, it becomes possible to supervise the implementation of the National Vaccination Program for Children and Adolescents with accurate data, so that:
monitor epidemiological assessment indicators, and
– formulate health policies accordingly.
According to the new procedure, initially the pediatrician will issue the prescription for each vaccine through the electronic prescription system and then the parents will execute the prescription at the pharmacy. Once the vaccination is performed, the pediatrician will register the operation in the Register and any further doses will be automatically scheduled, with the parents receiving corresponding updates via SMS and e-mail. All relevant information will also be available in the MyHealth application.
Individual Student Health Card
This is another physical document that the parent had to present in person to enroll their child in school. Now the process of publishing it is digitized, facilitating parents and pediatricians.
In particular, the pediatrician will begin the digital version of the certificate by entering the child’s AMKA. You will then be asked to fill in all the fields of the form, entering the information gathered during the examination (medical history, weight, height, vaccination coverage, other medical examinations, etc.) and information about the school. In addition, there will be the possibility to request an opinion from a doctor of another specialty in case the pediatrician deems it necessary.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Health Thanos Plevris, the Minister of Digital Government Kyriakos Pierrakakis, the Minister of State George Gerapetritis, the Minister of State Akis Skertsos, the Deputy Minister of Digital Government and Minister Grigoris Dimitriadis, the General Secretary of Public Health Irini Agapidaki, the President and CEO IDIKA Niki Tsouma, the Director of the Office of the Minister of Digital Government Konstantinos Hambidis and the Advisor to the Minister Apykou Papounis.
