Two locals, aged 29 and 32, who were allegedly members of a gang that committed robberies and thefts in the area of ​​Ichthyoskala Keratsini, mainly at the expense of fish traders, were arrested on Monday morning in Keratsini by police officers of Immediate Action (DIAS team).

The two arrested people riding a motorcycle allegedly stopped in the area of ​​Ichthyoskala in Keratsini and the 32-year-old tried to rob it under the threat of a pistol. The victim fled and DIAS police officers located the perpetrators and stopped them.

An air pistol (replica) was found and confiscated in the possession of the 32-year-old, while after a search of his home, a pistol, 2 cartridges and 2 iron fists were found and confiscated. After a search of the 29-year-old’s home, 2 “butterfly” daggers were found and confiscated.

The pre-investigation investigation of the Piraeus Security Sub-Directorate revealed that the alleged perpetrators together with their wanted accomplices, had formed a criminal organization operating in the area of ​​Ichthyoskala and were robbing mainly fish traders. For the robberies, the alleged perpetrators used vehicles (motorcycles and cars), weapons and hoods. They acted mainly in the early morning hours, when visibility is low and traffic is limited, in order to facilitate their smooth escape, according to the police.

According to ELAS, the investigation revealed that the members of the organization have committed, with a different composition each time, 2 robberies in the area of ​​Keratsini, 2 thefts of bags in the area of ​​Keratsini, and one theft of a bag in the area of ​​Haidari. They are said to have extracted a total of 60,500 euros, while the value of the removed items is estimated at 16,100 euros.

The arrested were taken to the Piraeus Public Prosecutor, who referred them for a main interrogation.
