The three-member Criminal Court of Thessaloniki sentenced two doctors to two years in prison with a three-year suspension for the death of a 55-year-old patient in 2016. The two doctors were found guilty of negligent homicide, as reported by grtimes.gr.

The unfortunate man, from the area of ​​Edessa, had been transported in a private clinic in Thessalonikiafter an injury to his hand with a chainsaw, during carpentry work.

After the preoperative examination, he underwent surgery under general anesthesia, but at the end of the operation he exhaled. His death was attributed to ischemic heart disease, which, as described in the indictment, had not been diagnosed by doctors during the preoperative examination of the victim.

The prosecutor of the headquarters during her speech stated that the accused failed to proceed with further medical examinations. and suggested their guilt.

The court recognized to the two doctors (cardiologist and anesthesiologist) the mitigation of the previous legal life.

A third doctor, an orthopedic surgeon, who was found not guilty, was referred to the same court.
