A prison official was accused by the mother of a 12-year-old of using violence against her son, believing that the boy in the toy rained water and hit his daughter.

The case reached his court with the spontaneous procedure Single-member Misdemeanor Court of Thessalonikiwho sentenced the prison officer to 5 months in prison, with a 3-year suspension, as he was found guilty of simple bodily harm and threat, while he was acquitted on the charge of insult.

It all seems to have started in Thermi Square, in Thessaloniki, where groups of elementary school students gathered last Tuesday afternoon to spend carefree moments. Some of the children started hunting and getting wet with water.

What started as a game seems to have bothered the defendant’s daughter who, along with two of her friends, went to the former’s house to protest.

According to the complaint, the accused left the house where he located three minors, the two ran and left while the third did not catch up.

“He grabbed him by the neck and threw him in the cuffs, insulting him at the same time,” the 12-year-old’s mother testified in court.

According to her, her son was then examined by doctors of the Health Center of the area, while through her lawyer he presented a medical report which allegedly refers to bruises, fractures and injuries in parts of the minor’s body.

The accused denied all the acts and described his own version: “I was at home watching TV. The intercom rang and my wife shouted ‘help the kids are down’.

I went down the stairs where I found the little girls and they told me ‘they hit us and throw us liquid’. They were three children, I caught one. I asked him if he did something and he answered in the negative. I realized it wasn’t him. He had people in front of him, I held him by the shirt to ask him “he apologized, saying that he is in a bad psychological state and that” issues between parents “should not reach the courtrooms.

“He should have been calmer because of his status, and more so because he had a minor in front of him,” said the district attorney who proposed his guilt, acknowledging a mitigating previous legal life.

He appealed against the decision and was released.
