A final solution to the major issue of encroached and exchangeable real estate, which concerns the public, but also thousands of encroachers on private public property, comes to give a draft law of the Ministry of Finance.
The bill provides for redemption over 70,000 trampled areas of the State and will be discussed today at cabinet and targets revenues of 1 billion euros.
The bill to be voted on early summer will enable those who own encroached on public real estate to legitimize themin order to obtain final title deeds.
In order to achieve this goal, a committee will be set up where the interested parties will submit the necessary supporting documents and the legality of the real estate will be examined.
In the event that some have appealed to the Court, the appeal will be considered.
With the new regulation, the owners of public lands will have the right to repurchase from the state the land areas they encroached on for a price, which will be calculated based on the objective values of the real estate and with a discount rate, which will be scaled according to the time duration of occupation and type of property.
Social criteria will also be taken into account in determining the amount of the price, ie it will be low for the financially weak, vulnerable groups such as those with many children and the disabled, and for cases where a first home has been erected on the encroached estate.
The price depending on its amount can be paid in installments.
