Return to normalcy from May 1 – The mask remains indoors

by

The pandemic is in recession and under control. Fewer cases and fewer hospital admissions are being recorded, and society is moving towards a new regularity with more freedoms, following in the footsteps of all other European countries that are taking action and starting to live normally.

The new measures from May 1

  • Suspension of covid pass. That is, the demonstration of the vaccination and disease certificate for access to all areas, closed and open, is removed.
  • Reset the capacity to 100%.
  • Suspension of EUDCC certificate at the country’s entry gates. Travelers are not required to present the European Vaccination Certificate for entry into the country.
  • One rapid test is prescribed per week (out of two so far) for unvaccinated workers, with the exception of hospitals and MFIs which remain the 2 rapid tests per week for unvaccinated workers.

What applies to the use of a mask

We still wear the masks indoors and this is a strong recommendation of the committee of experts. Outdoors do not need masks.

The recommendation for using a mask where there is coloration remains. The epidemiological data will show us if we can get them at some point and in which places, said during the briefing on the course of the pandemic the Deputy Minister of Health Mina Gaga. The political leadership of the Ministry of Health clarifies that the protection measures are not abolished, their obligatory observance is abolished and we are led to a framework of coexistence with the coronavirus, which continues to circulate among us and therefore each of us must learn to coexist with it. , as he returns to a significant degree in his habits.

Measures in Schools

Mandatory use of protective mask indoors and outdoors, as well as the use of antiseptics, regular ventilation, meticulous cleaning of surfaces and equipment, separate breaks, etc.

There will be no regular self-diagnostic tests for attendance at the school unit by students, vaccinated teachers

Unvaccinated teachers will preemptively perform a rapid test per week, at their own expense, up to 48 hours before school on Tuesday. (Especially, for next week’s attendance, the first test will be conducted up to 48 hours before the school arrival on Wednesday, May 4, 2022)

In case of close contact with a case within the school context, vaccinated and non-vaccinated students and teachers perform a 2 self test (days 0-1 and 4) free of charge (to be available from schools) and use a high respiratory protection mask (N95 or KN95 or FFP2) or double mask for 10 days.

In case of close contact with an out-of-school case, the vaccinated students and teachers return to school normally, perform the first self-test and the second rapid test on the 5th day at their own expense and use a high respiratory protection mask (N95 or KN95 or FFP2) or double mask for 10 days.

Unvaccinated students and teachers are quarantined and the first ones take self-tests and the second ones take rapid tests on the 5th day at their own expense in order to return to school. After the 5th day, if the test is negative and they return to school, use a high respiratory protection mask or double mask for at least another 5 days.

In case of a confirmed case in the classroom, the same applies to the general population, for vaccinated and non-vaccinated students and teachers:

-Stay of the case in isolation for 5 days. After 5 days of isolation and if (a) the fever has completely subsided for 24 hours without the use of antipyretics and (b) there are no other symptoms or the symptoms improve, the isolation is discontinued. Otherwise the isolation is extended.

Mandatory use of a high respiratory protection mask (N95 or KN95 or FFP2) or a double mask for at least another 5 days from the end of the isolation.

Students and vaccinated teachers no longer file an Edupass declaration on a weekly basis, unless required to do so, e.g. in case of close contact with a case. Unvaccinated teachers continue to report Edupass on a weekly basis for their regular laboratory tests once a week and, at the same time, are required to report for diagnostic tests performed as close case contacts inside and outside the school.
