Guilty ruled the Three-Member Misdemeanor Court of Volos a 29-year-old resident of Skiathosfor damage to foreign property, which is located in a public place and sentenced him to one year imprisonment with suspension and right of appeal.
According to the indictment, the 29-year-old on January 19, 2020 hit with his hands and broke the ATM screen, resulting in damage, as reported by Magnesianews.
The accused was absent from the trial and was represented by an attorney.
His brother’s wife testified as a defense witness, who said that the accused is a quiet man and has not given rights. Regarding the incident, he stressed that the ATM of a specific bank on the island, is about 20 years old, old technology and there are constant protests residents and visitors, that they can not deposit or withdraw money.
The accused, the witness stated, before causing the damage he had gone twice and unsuccessfully tried to withdraw money.
On January 19, he went back to the machine, gave a withdrawal order and could not withdraw any money, so on his irritation he hit it with his hands and broke the old type screen he had, without intending to cause damage.
A bank employee, at the time, testified that after the screen broke the people could not be served.
The court sentenced the 29-year-old to one year in prison without mitigation, with suspension and the right to appeal.
