Texas: Bathers Go to Help Dolphin But Kill It – $ 20,000 Bidded

by

A sick dolphin that was trapped off the coast of Texas died, having experienced huge levels of stress from bathers who, considering that they might help him, pushed him back into the sea while he needed medical help.

According to the NYP, the city authorities are now offering the sum of $ 20,000 to anyone who can provide information on the main culprits of the unfortunate animal’s death.

The female dolphin washed up on Quintana Beach near Freeport, Texas on April 10 and died after bathers pushed it back into the sea and tried to swim with it while riding it.

“This incident is a prime example of what we should not do,” said Christopher Marshall, a marine biologist at the University of Texas.

“The animal was quite sick, already stressed at this point,” he said, explaining that his life was already hanging by a thread and stress was what killed him.

It is common for dolphins to come out on Texas beaches, but people are not supposed to touch them, the Texas Mammal Institute said in a Facebook post.
