A case of blackmail against a businessman in Rhodes was investigated by police officers of the Rhodes Security Sub-Directorate and the perpetrators were arrested. These are three nationals aged 26, 34 and 34 years against whom a criminal case was filed for conspiracy to extort money.
In particular, as ascertained in the context of an investigation complaintthe perpetrators during the last week extorted the payment of 50,000 euros from a shopkeeper in order to carry out his commercial activity.
Also yesterday morning, a relative of the shopkeeper was attacked and punched in order to achieve their blackmailing purpose.
For effective investigation of the case and the end of their delinquent behavior, by the Rhodes Security Sub-Directorate, a targeted police operation was organized today (Monday, May 9, 2022) in the morning in the Karakonero area of ​​Rhodes where the perpetrators were located and arrested.
The arrested were taken to the Rhodes Prosecutor’s Office, were prosecuted and referred to main trial.
