One year and two months later the episodes in Nea Smyrnion March 9, 2021, the man arrested as the culprit for the savage assault on a police officer of the DIAS group is acquitted by a panel of the Council of Criminal Courts, which ruled that the accused is not the one called by many media “American Indian“.

The Judicial Council, adopting a similar acquittal proposal of the Prosecutor, considers that for the 31-year-old, who was brought before the Court because of a testimony that “placed” him in the square of Nea Smyrni when incidents had occurred after a protest rally, no data emerged.

The 31-year-old was confronted with heavier categories relating to her crimes attempted murder against police officer, explosion and construction of supply and possession of explosive bombswhich were attributed to him after a person testified from his relatives, who, however, a few days later changed his allegations.

The accused was considered the person who, as recorded on video during the episodes, with a big jump attacked the policeman and threw him from the car he was riding as a co-driver.

The 31-year-old remained in custody for seven months for the case. From the beginning he denied the accusation attributed to him, providing evidence that he was not even in Nea Smyrni on the day of the incidents.

The Judicial Council with its council (number 1466/2022) considers that “to be charged“To the detriment of the 31-year-old as”there is no evidence against him». The judges emphasize that except for the controversial testimony, which he himself the witness recovered falling into many contradictions, no involvement of the accused in the incidents in Nea Smyrni. Thus, with their acquittal, the judges order the termination of any restrictive condition that has been imposed on the 31-year-old.

With the same decision, the Council refers to trial 11 defendants who were arrested for the episodes of criminal acts related to the attempted murder against the policeman, explosions and possession of explosives but also for a series of misdemeanors. Initially, separate cases were filed for the case of Nea Smyrni, which, however, were merged due to relevance.
