Shock has been caused by sudden death of a 7-year-old boy in Thessaloniki. The child “left” despite the anxious efforts of the doctors to keep him alive.

The boy was transported yesterday morning by EKAB ambulance to the Emergency Department of the “Ippokratio” hospital with convulsions, high fever, shortness of breath and hyperpnea. According to information, he had a fever for days and the tests he underwent showed that he had a low hematocrit, as reported by GRTimes.

Despite the efforts of the doctors, the child died in the outpatient clinics and did not even have time to be hospitalized.

The doctors tried to keep him alive for two hours, but the 7-year-old was stopped and the efforts to revive him were in vain.

The body of the child will be subjected to an autopsy – necropsy, in order to determine the exact causes of his death.

For his part, the president of the Workers’ Union of the Hippocratic Hospital of Thessaloniki, George Dontsios said in his statements -after expressing his condolences to the family of the 7-year-old- that “yesterday morning the child came to the outpatient clinics of the hospital, with high fever and almost in a coma.

All the necessary and foreseen actions were taken. During resuscitation by pediatricians and intensivists, he showed hematocrit saturation and after two to two and a half hours of efforts he could not be kept alive.

An autopsy-necropsy has been ordered and the forensic report is the one that will shed light on the causes of death of the child “.
