With the central slogan “Fire has power – Do not underestimate it”, the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection and the Fire Brigade present their new informative spot (TV and radio) with prevention and protection instructions to shield our house against fire, especially during the critical months of May and June, ie at the beginning of fire period.
Our film stars two officers of the Fire Brigade who share with us some simple but basic steps:
– We clean dry grass, leaves, pine needles, branches and remove flammable materials at a distance of at least 10 meters around our house, creating a fire zone
– We prune the trees, so that their branches are 3 meters away from the ground and between them and at least 5 meters from the house, while in no case should they rest on it.
– We clean the tiled roof from dry leaves and pine needles and make sure that our gutters are metal and clean of leaves
– We make sure that our fire extinguishers are properly maintained
– We make sure to have a watering hose with a length proportional to the area we want to protect and
– The most important step: We do not light a fire during the fire season, from May 1st to October 31st.
Because fire has power and we must not underestimate it. With prevention, timely preparation and information, we protect our lives, our fellow human beings, our property and our forests.
The spot that is presented today – and is fully accessible to our fellow citizens with hearing or vision problems – is part of the broader communication campaign developed by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection for this year’s fire season. The campaign has a holistic and dynamic character and includes a series of videos and communication actions that will follow.
