“Operation Freedom” for three bears, a jackal and a wolf in Thessaloniki

In their home, in the freedom of nature, three bears return, a wolf and a jackal that Arcturus had treated at a young age and are now ready for reintegration.

Specifically, about a year ago, three orphan teddy bears were found in a forest in Bulgaria, close to each other. They were initially cared for by the animal welfare organization Four Paws in co-operation with the neighboring country’s Ministry of Environment and Water, but sought Arcturus’ assistance in raising the animals, with a view to their subsequent reintegration into Bulgaria.

Huba, “beautiful” in Bulgarian, Goran, the “child of the forest” and Vihar, which means siphon, will rejoin Bulgaria, as was the case in 2018 with three other teddy bears, Mitko, Jonas and Radostina.

“A team of environmental organizations and the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment will go tomorrow (Saturday) morning to Aetos Florina, where their special accommodation is located, and after the appropriate procedures, will take them back to Bulgaria to be released,” he told APE. – MPE the general manager of Arcturus, Dr. Alexandros Karamanlidis.

In addition to the bears that will be transported for reintegration to the neighboring country, on Sunday, May 15, a wolf and a jackal will be released in Greece. This is Scar, a wolf that was so named because of the mark he has on his face from skin problems and he was found alone, in a very bad condition, before he was even a month old. The organization had received him from the Kozani Forest Service, transported him to his Veterinary Clinic and after the appropriate treatment he recovered and next Sunday he will be released.

Lina, who had been found just a few days ago, near Lake Kerkini, in the settlement of Kala Dendra, Serres, and is expected to be released in the same area, will also “accompany” him.
