The “Montblanc Haus” opened its gates to the public a few days ago. Located in Hamburg, close to Montblanc headquarters and factory, the 118,000-square-foot, three-story building is both a museum and a place to immerse the business. It is sure to become a destination for those who are passionate about Montblanc’s art, history, architecture and writing tools.
Designed by renowned architect Nieto Sobrejanos – based in Berlin and Madrid – the architectural structure is inspired by Montblanc’s pen cases. At the entrance, visitors are greeted by a sculpture by Paris-based artist Wendy Andreu, which includes an event space, boutiques and a café.
The 115-year-old company celebrates much more than its heritage and products in this area: at the Writing Atelier, visitors can take calligraphy and creative writing lessons, while free lessons are offered to disadvantaged young people in the area. No details have been released about the upcoming exhibitions, but the permanent collection includes handwritten texts by iconic figures such as Ernest Hemingway, Frida Kahlo and Jackie Chan, as well as over 400 Montblanc writing tools.
“This experience is not only dedicated to all the incredible stories that have been written over the years, including ours, but also to all the great stories that have not yet been written, as we invite visitors to be inspired to leave their mark. “Vincent Montalescot, executive vice president of marketing at the company, said in a statement.
