The police operations continued today with undiminished intensity, with the aim of suppressing illegal activities in both the capital and the co-capital.
As a result, thousands of people and hundreds of vehicles were checked with the authorities moving forward in a total of 12 arrests.

More specifically, a large-scale police operation was carried out this afternoon, Tuesday, May 17, 2022, in the wider area of Omonia.
130 police officers from various Services participated in the operation (Attica Foreigners Directorate, Athens Police Directorate / Patrols Sub-Directorate, Attica Security Directorate / OPKE, DRASI, Attica Immediate Action Directorate, Attica Traffic Directorate, Attica Police Directorate Aerial Security Forces).
Checks were carried out on 480 people and, among other things, 140 extraditions of foreigners were found, who lacked the necessary documents, who were taken to PRO.KE.KA. of Amygdaleza.
In addition, 9 arrests were made, 3 people were arrested, of which 2 for drugs and 1 for trafficking, while items for trafficking were confiscated.
The police operations will continue, within the framework of the special operational planning, in various areas of Attica.

Large-scale police operations were carried out in parallel today and in various areas of Thessaloniki.
According to the announcement of ELAS, the operations were carried out in the framework of a special operational plan prepared by the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki for the policing of the Prefecture, the prevention and suppression of crime and the consolidation of the citizens’ sense of security.
Police officers of the Police, Security, Foreigners, Traffic and Immediate Action Directorates of Thessaloniki, carried out simultaneous targeted operational actions, in railway installations, in areas of the city center, of the Municipalities of Kordelio – Evosmos, Thermaikos, Thermi, Thermi, Thermi, Thermi Of Veria.
In the operations, which involved 111 police officers and 35 vehicles:
(814) people and (549) vehicles were tested. (35) people were noticed. (9) of them were arrested for violations of the Law on Foreigners, smuggling, illegal outdoor trade and a pending conviction with which a sentence of imprisonment of (8) years was imposed.
(324) violations were confirmed and (10) vehicles were immobilized.
“Similar police actions will continue in the future at a steady pace,” ELAS said in a statement.
