The “Island of Samos” in the port of Chios is a strong wind

by

The strong winds that blow from the early hours of Thursday in Chios, created a problem in the port of Chioshighlighting the limited possibilities it has for large coastal vessels when adverse weather conditions prevail.

This is at least proved by the case of the ship “Samos Island”, which from 5 o’clock on Thursday morning, coming from Piraeus and Psara, can not approach the mooring pier of the main port, swept away by the strong north wind.

Characteristic of the intensity of the winds is the fact that the ship, although it used its anchor and was assisted by tugs, was dragged to the southern part of the port, unable to moor, while according to information the ship is now stuck in shallow waters on the south side.

The “Island of Samos” carries a total of 332 passengers, 104 trucks, 83 cars. cars and 18 two-wheelers to Chios and Mytilene.

According to the port body, a tug is already near the ship in order to attempt to detach the ship. “Samos Island” operated the route from Piraeus to Psara Chios and Mytilene.
