A memorandum of cooperation was signed by the Ministry of Civil Protection and the Greek Police with the Zero Stray Pawject

Memorandum of cooperation, valid for two years, signed by Minister of Citizen Protection Takis Theodorikakos and the Hellenic Police with the Zero Stray Pawject and the Director of its Academy (Zero Stray Academy) Stamatina Stamatakoufor animal protection.

More specifically, the memorandum agrees, among others:

· The special training and education of the personnel of the Greek Police for the correct application of Law 4830/2021 and the current legislation for the protection of animals in general, in order to make a correct and legal investigation of the cases of animal abuse and to achieve the optimal utilization of acceptable facts and evidence

· The inclusion of the current legislation for the protection of animals in the anti-crime policy program of the Greek Police

· The activation of the police staff and the inclusion in its official duties of conducting systematic and targeted inspections on a daily basis, with the aim of preventing the crimes of violence against animals.

· The creation of short advertising messages (spots) of the citizens by the Greek Police.

· The creation of printed and electronic educational material for presentations by police officers and Zero Stray Pawject executives in schools and in the social body in general.

The contribution of the Academy of Zero Stray Pawject (Zero Stray Academy), with its know-how, in the operation of the Department of Animal Protection and the respective Offices that will be established throughout the country as well as in the training of students of the School of Officers and the Department of Vocational Training of Non-Commissioned Officers (TEMA) of the Hellenic Police.

· With the ultimate goal of the effectiveness of the controls carried out and the more complete implementation of the current legislation, the immediate supply of all competent police services with corresponding devices (scanners).

· The reduction of the phenomenon of anonymous and irresponsible property that leads to abandonment and creates potentially favorable conditions for their possible abuse (active – passive).

The Minister of Citizen Protection Takis Theodorikakos, after the signing of the memorandum of cooperation made the following statement: “It is one of our constant priorities to implement the law to address animal cruelty. And we prove this every day, as the Ministry of Civil Protection and the Greek Police, with actions. Today we take a new step forward, with the memorandum of cooperation that we sign with the Academy of Zero Stray Pawject, agreeing that we will proceed to the even better, faster and higher quality training of our police officers, in the implementation of this law as well as the implementation of all necessary organizational measures on the part of the Greek Police in order to implement this law throughout the country “.
