Repeatedly online fraud under the guise of romance (Romance Scam) was investigated and investigated by the Cybercrime Prosecution Sub-Directorate. Relevant was formed for the case case file regular procedure at the expense of seven (7) persons.
It was preceded by a complaint from a local, according to which, unknown perpetrators from 2015 to 2019, managed to extort about 50,000 euros in installments.
How they acted
In particular, as to the way of action, they communicated through a social networking site and under the pretext that they are interested in close interpersonal relationships with him, they managed with various tricks to convince him and to send them money at regular intervals.
A thorough police investigation followed, in the context of which cash and electronic trace data were analyzedresulting in the identification of the perpetrators and the verification of the role of each in the case.
The case file that was formed was submitted to the competent Prosecution Authority.
