In a public intervention in view of the election of a new prosecutor in the Supreme Court and president of the Council of State, made the historical executive of the ruling party, Mr. Ioannis Varvitsiotis, who served in his long political career and Minister of Justice.
In a statement, Mr. Varvitsiotis points out the need to select one of the competent executives who serve in the judiciary and reserves the right to take a position and judge them after the relevant government choices.
The government, by the end of the month at the latest, is expected to elect a new Prosecutor in the Supreme Court, as Vassilios Pliotas is leaving after a successful three-year service, while a choice will be decided for the presidency of the Council of State, from where Dimitrios Skaltsounis leaves after a one-year term that was successful and quiet.
The statement of Mr. Ioannis Varvitsiotis in detail.
“In my long political career, I also served as Minister of Justice. This capacity, as well as my respect for Justice in general, prompted me to make the following statement:
“The government has shown respect for justice so far. But will it continue now? Because now is the critical time to choose its leadership. There are the following paths to follow: the yearbook, the dive and the longboat. The last one (longboat) is sure to overlook capable executives, because in Politics and Administrative Justice there are capable executives. The legal world and those who do business in this field know them. and the judges …. are judged! “
