A European official said some European leaders were considering an emergency meeting on broader economic issues. Another European official, however, states that there are no such plans at the moment.
There are currently no plans to conduct Extraordinary EU Summit in July to look for ways to deal with rising gas prices, a European official said. However, according to another European official, some European leaders are considering holding an emergency summit in July to discuss “broader economic issues”.
“There are no plans”the first official answered a question about the information for the holding of an extraordinary summit next month.
He himself stated that Prime Minister of Italy Mario Draghi proposed in internal discussions yesterday to hold an extraordinary European summit in July to discuss a proposal to impose a ceiling on Russian gas prices.
However, the Prime Minister of Belgium Alexandre De Cro warned today that european countries need to start buying energy together and imposing a cap on gas prices to prevent a major crisis next winter.
“We have to form an energy bloc. “If we all work on our own behalf, we will all sink on our own behalf.” said the Belgian Prime Minister before the start of work on the second day of the summit.
“We need to start buying energy together, we need to impose a price cap and we need to make joint plans to spend the winter.” he said.
