The presence of the Prime Minister in the European Parliament a day before the pre-day debate in the Parliament on the social policy he requested, came at the best timing, according to government officials.

The position of Greece in a changing Europe and the national challenges which in many cases are also European and require common coping mechanisms, is expected to be described by Prime Minister in his speech at the Plenary European Parliament in Strasbourg. Its installation will take place at 11.30 am. In a speech that will be inspired by strong pro-European signKyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to emphasize that Greece is leaving behind the years of crisis, turning the page and marching into the future with optimism, despite the difficulties and repeated crises it has been called to face and still faces.
The prime minister will point out that Greece participates in Europe as equal partner and co-former of all major European debates. Special reference is expected to be made to Russian invasion of Ukraine, for which our country took a clear position against him from the first moment Vladimir Putin, stressing that this war is a turning point in the history of Europe. It will also be referred to geopolitical challenges in the wider region and in the country’s role as a pillar of security in Eastern Mediterranean.
The Prime Minister’s speech, following an invitation addressed to him by President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, joins Ms. Metsola’s initiative for a series of speeches entitled “This is Europe”. This series is part of the Conference on the Future of Europe and the heads of state and government of EU member states are invited to the Plenary Session of the European Parliament.
The discussion that follows will be of interest, as the prime minister will take questions from the groups of the European Parliament. The dialogue will also have a “Greek” color, as the speaker will be Nikos Androulakis from the group of Eurosocialists and Dimitris Papadimoulis from the European left. Both with their positions will address questions to Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The Prime Minister at 11.00 am. he will meet with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, while at 13.00 he will meet with the Eurogroup of the N.D.
