The general secretary of the KKE spoke at a political rally in Volos
The KKE held a political rally on the central beach of Volos with the presence of G.G. of K.E. of the party Dimitris Koutsouba and thousands of members of the party and its youth in the context of the 31st Anti-Imperialist Camp of the KNE which takes place in Nyes of Magnesia.
Also present at the Volos event were Astor Garcia, General Secretary of the CC of Spain, Pavel Blanco Cabrera, First Secretary of the CC of Mexico and Kemal Okuyan, General of the CC of Turkey.
Dimitris Koutsoumbas in his greeting said that “from here, from the working town of Volos, from the city where the “Communist Manifesto” was first printed in Greek in 1908, in the newspaper “Ergatis”, from the city of the 3 popular uprisings of of the Voliotian proletariat, in 1909, February 1921 and June 1936, but also the other, later, great struggles of our people, we send a strong message to all of Greece! A message of struggle, counterattack and at the same time a message of peace and international solidarity with the struggling peoples. We send this message together with our comrades from the Communist Parties from Turkey, Spain, Mexico, who are with us today. We welcome them to this red youth sea of people, which flooded the beach of Volos”.
G.G. of the KKE also stated that “the recent decisions of the NATO Summit in Madrid, to which the ND government, assisted by the opposition SYRIZA – PASOK, has “broadly” put its signature, add new “fuel” to the fire of the imperialist war in Ukraine. They are opening the “Aeolus’ shield”, for new imperialist interventions and wars at the expense of other peoples in many “corners” of our planet. As in the Pacific region, in the great “contrary” of the forces of Euro-Atlanticism, with the rising power of capitalism, China.
People are already paying dearly for their policies. Sometimes with their blood and sometimes with the precision that “breaks bones”… They pay for their new wars for raw materials, energy, mineral wealth, roads for transporting goods, shares of markets, redistribution of the world.”
Dimitris Koutsoubas, continuing, said that “from this step, to Bullet, we demand an end to the transformation of our country into a “wasp’s nest” of US-NATO criminal designs! Immediately close the American bases located in Thessaly, here near Stefanovikeio Volos, but also in Larissa, as well as in other areas of our country, in Alexandroupolis, Crete, Araxos and elsewhere. Now let’s all demand the disengagement of the country from the imperialist war!
To close the bases of death! To return to Greece the parts of the Greek forces that are outside the borders, such as in Saudi Arabia, in the Balkan countries and elsewhere. No to the exorbitant military spending for NATO’s needs. Now let’s all demand the disengagement of the country from the imperialist war!”
Then Mr. Koutsoubas reminded that “with the class struggle the wheel of history turns” and emphasized that” through the struggle, the youth and the people can change the negative associations, prevent worse measures, gain breaths of relief, but also to form the conditions to send this unjust, rotten and barbaric system of wars and exploitation, once good to its rightful place: In the “time closet of History”! We must turn our backs not only on the ND, which under the flag of political stability, it continues to burden the people, increasing instability and insecurity in their lives, but also on those, such as SYRIZA and PASOK, who advertise that with an anti-people government of another “color” our lives will be humanized . They make a big mockery of the people when they tell them or when they imply that they will supposedly reduce poverty, unemployment, precision. That these are allegedly only policies of the neoliberal model of the ND and not of theirs of social democratic management…”
Also in his speech, Dimitris Koutsoubas added that “if they really wanted to relieve the people from poverty, they would all have supported the proposals of the KKE: Their concern, however, is not the real relief of the people, but the effort for another time to steal his vote in the elections that are short-term and which everything for the moment indicates will take place in September”.
He also emphasized that “the KKE will not give a ‘pardon card’ to the old and new crimes planned against the people! We will continue our struggle to inform and organize the people, who are the only ones who can squeeze them today and to pave the way for us to chart another “route” for the place, with the people as the protagonist of the developments”.
The General Secretary of K.E. of the KKE also reminded that “since 1952, Greece and Turkey have been together in the “struga” of NATO, but this does not offer any security. Year by year, the threats to the people of the two countries are growing stronger.
Threats that also arise from NATO, which does not recognize borders in the Aegean. Threats manifested through the rivalries of bourgeois classes for
geopolitical supports, for market shares, for energy wealth.
This situation is not a one-way street for the people! The peoples of Greece and Turkey can carve out a peaceful future, with cooperation and friendship, with equal mutual relations, away from foreign “protectors” and “agencies”, away from NATO, the EU, any imperialist alliance, with respect for borders, of the international conditions that determine them, without “hot incidents” and military confrontations!
This road, of peace, of the common struggle of the peoples against NATO, against capitalism and all those who “ditch” the future of the youth and the peoples, this road is being walked together by the communists of Greece, with the communists of Turkey, Spain, Mexico, with the communists and peoples all over Europe, on all continents, all over the world.
It is the path of proletarian internationalism, social upheaval and the real resurrection of the peoples!
It is the way of the new society, of socialism-communism!”
This was followed by greetings from the three guest generals of the respective parties of Spain, Mexico and Turkey who made references to the war in Ukraine.
Nikos Ampatielos, Secretary of the KNE who then took the floor said that “it is no coincidence that our Camp has stopped here so many times – and it is not only the beauties of the place…
It is because the Greek governments, the NATO and EU imperialists have put it, like Crete and Thrace, at the center of their dangerous war plans, which have other peoples as victims, but also put the people of these regions of the country targeted by rival imperialist camps. That is why we today from here, from Volos, thousands of young men and women, with one voice, are sending a resounding message that we are determined to play a leading role in the effort to pull the wheel of history forward, to write history, as the our motto, “With the common struggle of the peoples, against the plans of the imperialists”. We are determined to continue causing a headache to the rulers and other parties of the Euro-Atlantic arc who see that the acceptance of Greece’s involvement in their imperialist designs and alliances is not “walking” as they would like, especially among the youth. In fact, this year our message reaches beyond the borders and far from them, since we have the honor and the great joy of having with us delegations of 3 Communist Parties with their General Secretaries, as well as 8 Communist Youth of Europe. We thank them, the we warmly welcome and promise from this step to continue together the fight we are fighting”.
Recalling, among other things, that ND, PASOK and the Coalition voted for the Maastricht Treaty, he added that “You see, what we call the “combination” of these major powers has a long history, in the basics, no matter how much they exaggerate their existing differences and argue like the roosters for the secondary. It is worth remembering these now that everyone is “falling” on the new generation trying to influence their criteria and attitude. But it is worth remembering that the bourgeois parties have always made a special appeal to the youth, giving in fact each time their own content in the concept of progress. If we make certain comparisons with the past, we will see that the support of a significant part of the youth in these parties, not only did not bring progress, but, on the contrary, took us back.”
The KNE Secretary also added that “it is true that many times the bourgeois parties cultivated hopes that were ultimately denied. In 2015 SYRIZA was elected to abolish the memoranda and finally brought another one. In 2019 the ND was elected to bring “many and good jobs for young people” and today the salary, for those who work, is not even enough for the rent and the electricity. Now, however, they don’t even bother to cultivate many hopes, if only to deny them later. They only say “vote for us for them to leave” or “vote for us so that the others don’t come again” and emphasized that “the real pre-election catwalk takes place at the General Assembly of the BSE, at the SETE conference, etc. There, Mitsotakis advertises his ability to advance anti-labor reforms decisively and quickly, while Tsipras his ability to ensure social peace, i.e. to advance anti-popular politics without “moving a leaf”.
The Secretary of the KNE argued that “the young men and women, especially of this generation who feel that they live in a “vicious circle”, have, however, one more very important reason to join the KKE. And this is that the KKE has a proposal and a plan to get out of this impasse, so that we can finally live based on the possibilities offered by our time and no worse than our parents. To be precise, the KKE is the only party that has such a plan, since all the other parties only propose different variants of managing the current impasse, which the ND persistently attributes lately to “negative international circumstances” and SYRIZA to “Mitsotakis politics”. , both “oiling” the real culprit, the aging capitalist system.”
